Big Idea: Jesus fulfills every covenant by accomplishing the “New Exodus” (through his death, burial, and resurrection) and establishing the New Covenant—so God’s people are rescued from sin/exile and brought into new-creation life in God’s Kingdom.

Key Passages: Luke 22
At the transfiguration of Jesus, “Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure (Greek exodus), which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:30-31)
What did Moses and Elijah mean by “Jesus’ exodus”? The mission of Jesus can be summarized as “The New King inaugurating the New Creation through the New Exodus”. The Exodus Road framework can help us see that Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection are indeed the New Exodus. Now, it’s your turn to tell the Gospel story:
[Mark 10:38, 45] Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized? ....For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
[Luke 12:50] “I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished!”
[Matthew 26:29] “I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
